Day 21, Homeschool Science Projects In Black And White and Color!

I'm listening to you Janine, thanks for your suggestion.

This year we are homeschooling our son Erik, who is in the second grade and learning about plants for science. He's been growing an avocado from a pit for a couple of weeks now and he's been keeping this little oak he found in the yard alive in a mason jar so he can transfer it to a pot very soon. I was looking for something to photograph when I saw these two "projects" on our window sill, so I thought I would give it a try. At first I took it in black and white and really liked it, then I took it in color and liked that too. Do you have one you like better then the other and why? I would love to know what you think.

Thanks everyone for all of your comments and I hope you have a happy day.

  1. I like the black and white for its stark contrast and I like the color because the blurring of the background is more exaggerated and cool, plus you can pick up on the different greens and browns in the plant....I would say it depends on your audience and what you wanted to do with the photo as to which you "like best"

  2. I almost always prefer black and white, and that applies here too. The color shot would be a great a reference for a painting, and it really does capture the fall palette.
